Polymer Science

Polymer Science prepares students for further study or employment in a variety of Materials Science & Engineering fields, including Metallurgy, Polymers, Plastics, Ceramics, Coatings, and Composites. The challenging, General and Organic Chemistry-rich curriculum also prepares students for college coursework in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, chemistry, and chemical/petroleum/biomedical engineering, to name a few. Students receive hands-on training in design, processing, troubleshooting, application, and testing of material systems, from raw materials to finished product. Students operate high-tech processing equipment and design parts using CAD software and 3-D printing. Students completing PSI & II receive 2 science credits, one which is a higher level, lab-based science, and 2 elective Carnegie Units.
