Brookhaven Technical Center’s 2nd-year Polymer Science students competed with other year-2 students from Petal and Hattiesburg at the annual High School Polymer Science competition, hosted and conducted by the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Polymer Science and Engineering. This year, BTC students placed in each of the four events included in competition. In the Research Poster/Presentation event, Lleyton Goza and Mia Lee placed 2nd with “A More Sustainable Future, One Polymer at a Time”, and Aniyah Sanders placed 4th for her research into “End Polymer Waste”. BTC students swept the Chemistry in Polymer Science tested event with 1st place Lleyton Goza, 2nd Bradley Hall, and 3rd Aniyah Sanders. In the Team Challenge event, students had 2 hours to construct the best impact strength-to-weight ratio composite, meeting stringent specifications. BTC’s team of Lleyton Goza, Bradley Hall, and Tanner Hardy placed 1st in the Team Challenge. In the Math in Polymer Science online tested event, Mia Lee placed 3rd. Year-1 students also competed in an online competition exam based on their curriculum. Emma Bridge placed 2nd and William Avery 3rd. Congratulations PS1 and PS2 students!
