Dr. Shannon Patterson recently visited Brookhaven Technical Center’s Polymer Science II students and spoke with them concerning “Materials in Dentistry”. Dr. Patterson discussed the use and progression of polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites in dental applications over the years, materials selection for various dental applications, and current, as well as emerging, technologies in the dental industry. While discussing tooth repair, students were treated to materials properties demonstrations. Dr. Patterson also briefed the students concerning educational requirements, job demands and benefits, and employee expectations.
