Health Science (Health Occupation Students of America) placed in the South Regional Competition

On Saturday January 19, 2019 students from the Brookhaven Technical Center competed in the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) South Regional Competition in Laurel  at West Jones High School. These students competed in three events including Nurse Assisting, Career Health Display, and Medical Terminology. Six of the students competed in the Health Career Display. This competition required students to choose a Healthcare Career and to create a visual aid and speech presentation on. Sydney Hodges and Charmesha Wilson successfully attained third place with their presentation on a Clinical Psychologist. Katie Sproles and Ja’Liyah Miller brought home a fifth place ribbon with a presentation on Neurosurgery. Other participants were Keirah Lyles and Anaiya Washington who presented on the OB-GYN career. Four students competed in medical terminology; Hannah Givens, Bobbi Jackson, A’Lexus May, and Melodye Stephenson. Hannah Givens received a fourth place ribbon. Also competing was Gracie Piper in the Nurse Assistant competition.  All students that placed will move on to State Competition. State Competition will be held in late March at the Marriott in Jackson, MS.
